Hi! I’m Audrey Shroyer.

I am a Cincinnati native, Ohio State Alum, avid bookworm, nature lover, and empath. Here is some of my background.

Some self-disclosure only benefits the therapeutic relationship. It’s hard to tell someone everything about yourself when you know nothing about them. I’m honest about my past because it has shaped who I am today as a person, mother, wife, therapist, and friend. I lost my mom at a young age to cancer, and I’m the youngest of three. I have always wanted to help people, which led to my bachelor’s degree in psychology. Funny, I took Intro to Counseling and wouldn't say I liked it. I questioned everything about my degree and my plans. (Sound familiar?) I graduated nonetheless with my BA in Psychology and a Minor in Human Development and Family Studies. For the following year, I served with AmeriCorps through City Year, working in an inner-city high school teaching literacy benchmarks. My life was forever changed. I left the bubble of my middle-class, white, suburban life to an inner city brimming with different cultures, race constructs, and various socioeconomic systems. I explored a new future path through Social Work, which led to a Master's program that spoke volumes to me outside of what my Bachelor’s could.

Throughout my career, I've honed my skills and expertise in supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families, drawing from diverse experiences at Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and Eating Recovery Center. My passion for working with teenagers and young adults stems from recognizing the challenges of this transitional phase and the importance of supportive guidance during such pivotal moments. Recently, I've expanded my scope to support First Responders and their families through the Peer Support network in the tri-state area.

I am a Licensed Independent/Clinical Social Worker in Ohio, Alabama, Kentucky, and South Carolina.

A therapist who’s in therapy.

Like many in my field, my personal journey has deeply influenced my professional path. I've been engaged in therapy since childhood, and the invaluable support of my therapists has been instrumental in my growth. I've walked through challenging conversations with clients, fostering growth and understanding, drawing from my own experiences.

The profound relief and connection I find in therapy continually motivate me to strive for personal growth, enhancing my ability to support others. I believe in practicing what I preach and professionally sharing my struggles to foster connection with my clients. In my practice, I uphold values of trust, growth, authenticity, family, and adventure. I consider learning from my clients' experiences a privilege, recognizing that not every therapeutic relationship is a perfect fit. I'm committed to helping individuals find the support that best suits their needs.

tl;dr

  • I began my journey in mental health as a case manager for transitional youth with GCB. From there, I transitioned to roles as a mental health specialist at Cincinnati Children’s, where I worked on both inpatient and partial hospitalization units. Following that, I served as a social worker on these same units before joining the team at Eating Recovery Center as a therapist. Now, I've ventured into private practice, continuing my work in empowering individuals on their healing journeys

  • I have a strong passion for working with eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and mood disorders, drawing from my expertise in treating these conditions using a range of therapy modalities. My focus lies in supporting individuals aged 12 and above, as well as families, as they navigate their healing journeys.

  • I practice what I preach - I do therapy work for myself as much as I recommend it to my clients.

I am excited to speak with you today.
